These days themed parties are getting much more popular. As parents it might be hard to keep up with your child’s favourite character. One day their favourite might be Queen Elsa and the next day it could be Cinderella. Planning for a birthday party and taking all your child’s interests into considerations can become quite difficult and can become a lengthy process.

Where to start?

Firstly, if your child is old enough try to sit down with them and talk about what sort of theme they would like to have at their party. Provide them examples if they don’t understand such as would you like to have a superhero party, or a Spiderman party, or black and blue party, etc.

Try and write down their ideas so you have a list to begin with. If your child is too young and cannot choose then it the parent’s choice. Otherwise ask your child what they would prefer or begin with a list. Once you have come up with a list try to narrow it down to their 2 favourite themes. Then from there you can decide which they will have at their party.

Once you have chosen your theme try to find invites that match your themed event. Try online and print these out or party shops would be a good start. If you have chosen a specific colour as the theme then find the exact coloured invite for your theme.

Specify on the invite what kind of theme your party will be. After the invites have been sent try to think of your budget for the party. Are you willing to go all out and get a party planner to do all your decorations or are you on a small budget? Whatever your answer may be we have the answer for you.

The great thing about themes is that most people can get into it and it sets the party into a great mood. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars to make your party look fabulous. Here are some ideas of what you might want to start looking for to match your themed party:

  • Tablecloths (themed tablecloths or coloured table cloths)

  • Hire a Mascot (if you are willing to spend a bit more)
  • Jumping Castle (matching your theme)
  • Lolly bags (matching your theme and have fun goodies)
  • Hiring a face painter (to paint various designs and designs that match your theme)

    Remember that you don’t need to have a specific theme at your party but it can make things easier when planning for a party. When buying balloons you don’t need to worry about what colour you want for example if you are having a Minnie Mouse theme then you would purchase red and white balloons.
